A great big THANK YOU to the hundreds of riders and fans who came out to Thunder Ridge in Neoga, IL this past weekend for the 2016 AMA Hillclimb Grand Championship!
Our special awards winners this year were Lane Brookshaw (AMA Youth Hillclimber of the Year), Junior Jackson (AMA Senior Hillclimber of the Year) and Nathan Prebe (AMA Hillclimber of the Year). While all three had excellent weekends, Nathan absolutely knocked it out of the park – including winning the King of the Hill class and setting the fastest time of the event.
Congratulations to Nathan, Junior and Lane – as well as all our other competitors!
Sadly there were a few injuries – of the ones I’m aware of, Matt Peters broke his wrist, Brian Marty broke a leg, and Stacey Morris spent a night under observation, but Jason Laven’s weekend turned out to be particularly unfavorable…Jason laid down some impressively fast times, and in point of fact qualified for the King of the Hill class out of the 200 class – but he suffered a very scary-looking crash. He was transported to a local hospital, who then forwarded him on (by helicopter) to the trauma center at Carle hospital in Urbana. Jason has a number of internal injuries – thankfully none of them appear to be individually serious, and he’s expected to make a full recovery…but he’s going to be bed-ridden for some time. On behalf of everyone at PRMC and Thunder Ridge, we wish Jason a speedy recovery, and congratulate him on his excellent showing this weekend.
